About

St. Aloysius Catholic School has an enrollment of 189 students including kindergarten readiness through 8th grade. It is fully accredited by the Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association.

Students of all faiths are welcome. Daily religious instruction in all grades is presented in an age-appropriate way. The sacraments of First Eucharist, First Reconciliation, and Confirmation are important facets of the curriculum. Students at St. Aloysius Catholic School are visited regularly by the pastor, attend weekly Mass and begin and end each day with school wide prayer.

The curriculum follows state/diocesan standards in all grades. Our students excel academically as evidenced by our test scores. Innovative teaching techniques are used throughout the school. There are 15  dedicated teachers on our faculty including 5 with Masters Degrees.

Kindergarten students experience an all day academic program. Grade 1 students publish their own book containing their favorite saints. In second grade the focus is on continuing to develop their reading and writing skills. Peer mediation training is provided for the third grade. Fourth graders explore all facets of Ohio. School band is an option available to students beginning in the fifth grade. Junior High including grades 6 through 8 has partial block scheduling and electives so that students can explore their interests.

St. Aloysius Catholic School opened in 1960 with 85 students in grades 1-3. We will celebrate 50 years of Catholic education in Bowling Green in August 2010.

“Faith in Every Student”

A Message From Bishop Blair

What would Catholic life be like without our schools? As a proud graduate of lifelong Catholic education I have always enjoyed making pastoral visits to the classroom. There I hear children from their youngest years speak with love and joy about the Person of Jesus and about the truths of the Gospel and our faith. Faith, virtue and character, as well as knowledge and skills – these are the hallmarks of a Catholic education for the good of the church, the family, our culture, our nation and world.

I have experienced first hand the deep personal commitment of teachers, parents and parishioners to maintaining and furthering the goals of Catholic education. It is with great respect for the accomplishments of our Catholic educational system that I encourage you who are parents to consider a Catholic school for your children.

And to those who have already made that choice, I offer my sincere thanks for the sacrifices that this involves for many of you. It is a commitment of both your financial resources and your time in a world that makes many claims on both. May you and your children be richly blessed for your choice of a Catholic school.

Always remember, however, that your home is the first and indispensable “classroom” in the faith. No Catholic school or religious education program can substitute for the faithful participation of your family in the sacraments, especially Sunday Mass every week, the practice of prayer and devotion, and your own example of Christian virtue. Each Catholic home is meant to be a “domestic church.”

I also want to commend our hard-working administrators, faculty members, support staffs, and benefactors. The integration of faith with all that these dedicated people do is perhaps the most important lesson our children can learn.

May the Lord bless and reward everyone associated with the great work of Catholic Education!

A Message from the Principal

My name is Mrs. Andrea Puhl and I am proud to serve as the principal-minister of St. Aloysius School. Our school maintains academic excellence and strong discipline in an atmosphere of Christian moral values and Catholic doctrine. We provide a spiritual, safe and caring environment for all of our students and their families. We strive to cooperate with our parents to guide each student in their academic and spiritual growth. Each day we work to bring our mission statement to life as our students grow in faith, character and knowledge.

Welcome to St. Aloysius Catholic School!
