The St. Aloysius School Band program is conducted in partnership with the BGSU Dept. of Music Education. For 30 years, students from BGSU have taught band to our students. The graduate students who instruct our students are generally here for two years. St. Al’s students in grades 5-8 may participate in Band. An annual Christmas concert and spring concert are held to showcase the talent of the band members. Students will receive grades for their participation in band and are exempt from the school music program.
Begun during the 2008-2009 school year the Chess Club meets regularly for 10 weeks to learn the fundamentals of the game, practice and participate in matches against other schools, as well as a tournament sponsored by the Great Lakes Chess Association. The Club is coached by Erick Horn.
Joining the student body in singing out God’s glory during school Masses is our student Praise Team. Led by our general music teacher, Mrs. Donella Wilt, the students are a joyful addition each week.
Parish activities available to all school students include Altar Service (grades 4-8), Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, Brownies and Girl Scouts and CYO sports.
CYO Sports that are offered include:
